The cargo volumes at DPT, one of the leading Major Ports in the country, have started picking up resulting in good throughput volumes during August 2020. This helped the port regain the number one position among Major ports relegating Paradip port (which was No. 1 last month) to the second position.
The port registered an impressive 43.665 MMT throughput figure as compared to Paradip port’s cargo volume of 42.751 MMT.
The major contributions for DPT, came from Vadinar : 204.60 lakhs, salt : 15.43, containers : 28.14, finished fertilziers : 17.34, sugar : 18.21, POL (Kandla) : 22.00 and Coal : 58.10 lakh MTs.
Shri S.K. Mehta, Chairman, congratulated, Port Users, Officers, Employees and Unions for their cooperation to retain the No. 1 position. Further, he congratulated Pilots and Crews of Marine Department for their consistent efforts in pandemic situation of Corona virus and unprecedented rains in berthing and sailing of Ships. Further, he also added that looking to the modernizing & mechanization projects taken up by the Port, it is envisaged that DPT will be able to achieve the targets set for the fiscal and DPT continue to maintain its “NUMERO UNO” position at all time.
