ACCEPTANCE OF VESSELS AT INDIAN PORTS

In 2011 there was a vessel which sank off the coast of India causing pollution besides being
wrecked. It was later found that the vessel was classed with “class of convenience” and not
insured. Thus in 2012 the Govt. of India brought out the “REGULATION OF ENTRY OF
SHIPS INTO PORTS, ANCHORAGES AND OFFSHORE FACILITIES RULES 2012”
Under these rules only ships insured with the IG Group of PnI clubs are acceptable. Further as
per these rules a maximum AGE criteria too was fixed
